I've never cared when summer officially started--once it was June 1, it was summer! This is my favorite time of year, and it goes beyond just the fact that school is out. It's time to recharge, and with this comes the opportunity to reflect, set goals, and get excited for what's ahead. This may also be because my birthday is in the summer so I get to have a new beginning each July.
I recently turned down a position at another school, and it was one of the hardest decisions I've ever made. Everything about it made sense in my head. But for reasons that I don't yet know or understand, my heart told me that it wasn't right. So I'm staying at the School of Mines for another year, and I'm ready to dive in head-first. I'm ready to accomplish everything that I either didn't have the time, confidence, or knowledge for in my first two years. I have a lot of goals, and I'll only share a few here.
I'm ready to get involved in Greek Life.
I'm going to put together a more comprehensive way of supervising and evaluating my staff.
I'm gong to put together a Safe Zone training for our campus, and create a safe space for LGBTQ students/allies.
Just talking about these goals gets me excited to start, so excuse me while I go be amazing! :D
